Han Qiao 喬 瀚

Composer, Morin Khuur player.


Born in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia, began studying piano and morin khuur (horsehead fiddle) at an early age. He received foundational training in composition theory and music creation under the guidance of his father. His morin khuur folk song performance album The Wind from the Sky was published and released by Pacific Audio & Video Co., Ltd. In 2023, he was admitted to the Composition Department of the Central Conservatory of Music, where he studied with Professor Xiang Min and Associate Professor Zhu He.


Han places great emphasis on the exploration and manipulation of micro-level sonic materials in his compositions. He actively engages with musical cultures and instruments from around the world—including Europe and East Asia—seeking to respond to philosophical, cultural, and social inquiries through personalized artistic expression. His creative output spans a wide range of genres and formats, including solo, chamber, orchestral, and electronic music. Stylistically, his work bridges the domains of contemporary classical music, jazz, popular music, and film scoring.

He has collaborated with Ensemble Nomad (Japan), Ensemble Borneo (Malaysia), Ensemble Dmew (China), Feicui Guzheng Ensemble, the Japanese artist collective “Tokyo Duck,” the Institute of Ethnic Music at Tokyo College of Music, the Fudan University Chinese Orchestra, and the Beidouxingkong Philanthropic Foundation, among others. His works have been performed in cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Chengdu, Guangzhou, Tokyo, and  Malaysia. Some of his compositions have been published by the People's Music Publishing House, Guangdong Audio & Video Publishing House, and Kalimbiex (Malaysia). He has received numerous national and international awards, including the Xinghai Cup (Beijing), the Yanhuang Cup (Central Conservatory of Music), the Sun River Prize (Chengdu), AIMA (USA), Artiste en Herbe (Luxembourg), and the European Composer Award (Austria).


On March 21, 2023, he held his debut solo concert in Beijing to critical acclaim. In May 2025, he was selected for the South China Contemporary Creative Music Institute, where he studied with composers and professors such as Clarence Mak, CHEN Xiaoyong, and Camilo Mendez, and premiered his work. In July of the same year, he was selected for the 5th “Brilliant Sounds of Five Colors” International Guzheng Creation&Composition Workshop, where his work were also performed.In October 2025, the opera To the Lighthouse was selected for the “China Chamber Opera Creation Promotion Project.”


In 2022, Han founded the Dangyin Music Experimental Workshop, where he has served as artistic director to this day. The platform is dedicated to promoting new music composition and fostering collaboration and dialogue among emerging composers. Under his leadership, the workshop has hosted numerous academic symposia, concerts, and composition workshops.
